My 30th Birthday in Pictures

Last week was my 30th birthday, and we hosted a vintage garden party at our new house with my family and friends.

Having photographed hundreds of events, I had so many ideas to incorporate into my theme, as well as a network of contacts to make it all happen. Unfortunately, playing the role of birthday girl, host and photographer proved to be difficult to multi-task, and the latter suffered, so there are not quite as many photos as I hoped to take!

Bunting: The bunting was made by my Mom and I, with material bought from Silk & Cotton Co. and you can read the free tutorial here.

Shade Clothes: The gorgeous shade clothes were actually the table overlays at my wedding (also purchased from Silk & Cotton Co.), which I decided to repurpose.

Ottomans: The six white rectangular ottomans were hired from First Impressions. I’d also like to take this opportunity to thank Vanessa from First Impressions for saving the day. I originally hired another company to provide the ottomans, but at 20h00 the night before my party, the wrong items were delivered! I called Vanessa on her mobile on Friday night, and she assured me they would deliver the ottomans before my guests arrived at 11h00 the following morning.

Wine Crates: The vintage wooden wine crates were used as side tables and were supplied by Desmond Mabuza, owner of Signature & Wall Street Restaurants . I have been doing Desmond’s food and interior photography over the years, and his top quality restaurants are a must for any food, wine, cigar or jazz lovers.

Glass Jars: I keep all my glass jars, soak off the labels and use them for anything from sweets jars, spice containers, and even photo frames.

Indian: The platters of samoosas and kebabs were ordered by my Mom, and made by Fatima’s Home Made Delights. (084 665 6990)

Curry, meatballs and pastry sausage rolls: Thank you to my wonderful Mom for providing so much delicious food!

Sweets: The jelly beans and variety of other sugary treats were bought from another long standing client of mine, Sunrise Sweets.

Flowers, serviettes & Paper cups: The Flower Spot in Woodmead has the hugest range of specialised party decorations for any occasion.

Last, but certainly not least, a big thank you to everyone who celebrated the day with me, and for spoiling me with such thoughtful gifts!
