This past Sunday 13 June 2010, Julian & I went to Pretoria with our friends Chantal & Stiaan, to watch Match 8 at Loftus Stadium: Ghana vs Serbia.

Being our first match, we were excited as kids at Christmas, and bought outfits especially for the game! Which team to support was a clear choice, and so we routed for Ghana amongst a sea of fellow South Africans waving the Ghana flag.

The atmosphere in the stadium is electric – everyone sings and cheers, and blows their vuvuzelas with passion and pride.

When Ghana scored, the crowd went wild – supporters jumped with joy and strangers hugged each other, all in the spirit of ubuntu and football! And when the final whistle blew and the score was 1-0 to Ghana, you can only imagine the roar of cheers in the stadium. Go Africa!

My next 2010 FIFA World Cup Soccer report will be after my next game, which is Match 60, the quarter finals! Ayoba!
