Bokeh is an adaptation from a Japanese word, meaning blur, and in photography, this term describes the quality of the areas of the image which are out of focus.

To create your own customised bokeh, you will need:

1. A large aperture lens (ie: 50mm F1,8)

2. A sheet of black paper with your customised cut out shapes

1. Cut the paper to make a fake lens hood, so it fits snugly around your lens

2. Cut out your shape in the centre of the paper, with a hole diameter of approximately 15mm

3. Set you camera to its lowest aperture

4. Put on your creative hat and have fun experimenting!
