Last week I had a shoot for Sony at the brand new Soccer City Stadium in Johannesburg. As promised, here are a few sneak peaks of the stadium! At this stage it was 106 days until kick off, and I must say, I was really really impressed with the developments. When I arrived and looked up and the magnificently huge structure, I got goose bumps.
Inside the passageways which lead out to the seating, are funky graphic murals, and the outside resembles a calabash (a traditional African pot) with cladding in a mosaic of fire and earthen colours, complete with a ring of lights running around the bottom of the structure, resembling the fire beneath the pot.
The building has received the Fultons prize for creative use of concrete products, both structurally and aesthetically.

We vistied the Durban stadium is at Christmas and got the very same goosebumps + could just image the crowds roaring. We walked up over the arch and the views were incredible; I am stoked Durbs finally has a tourist attraction (as amusing as mini town may be it’s not something I suggest to my international friends)
Wow! I didn’t know you could walk up along that arch! Imagine the great photos you could get from up there… Are you going to any games?
