Make your own Polaroids without a Polaroid Camera!

Although I’m a huge fan of digital photography, I often miss the realness of film and what it has to offer, especially in terms of fine art. A friend of mine, Anne-Lize, recently introduced me to Poladroid – free software you can download here, to make high resolution Polaroid’s from your digital images.

It is easy to use, you simple drag & drop your digital image onto the Polaroid camera, which ejects a Poladroid (along with sound effects), and you can watch it process over a few minutes. Just like a real Polaroid camera, once you’ve processed 10 images, your cartridge runs out and you need to re-start the software!
Okay, so it is a little gimmicky, but it’s loads of fun, and bound to start conversations on your Facebook albums, and, if you really get into it, join the Facebook Poladriod group here.

If you want a little more functionality in terms of cropping, colour shift, option to vignette, adding text and so on, you can do the same thing online here.

Here are a few of my own creations from Hong Kong and Zanzibar:

I love the one of the fingers and the seed pod. Magic!

The seed pod is the Lipstick Plant – Locals smear it on their lips and finger nails as a cosmetic!
