It’s officially my last 20’s birthday on Tuesday, meaning next year is the big three zero… Well, they say life begins at thirty, but I’m wondering if that’s something middle age people say to young folks to keep them guessing?
Hint hint nudge nudge wink wink, here’s my birthday wish list:
#1: The petite retro style Diana F+ mini 35mm camera and flash kit fits in the palm of your hand, is small enough to pop into your handbag when dashing out the door, and is a must have for any Lomographer or toy camera collector.
#2: The Blue Blackbird Fly Twin Lens Reflex Camera is based on the old school 1920’s medium format models, however, this beauty uses cheaper and more widely available 35mm film. You have three shooting formats to chose from: regular 35mm format, square format or full frame (the entire film space is used, so you even see the film sprockets on the edges on the image!)
Not only is this a good looking toy camera, but the functionality is pretty impressive too. There is a hot shoe adaptor, bulb function, variable focussing, and the abilty to shoot multiple exposures on the same frame.
#3: This cute, rubberised, super wide-angle analogue camera produces unearthly super saturated pictures with charming vignette effects. As camera functions are all fixed, and focus is from 1,2m to infinity, I’d love to give one of these to my god son Erich and experience the world through his four year old eyes.
#4: The Golden Half Camera allows you to shoot two images side by side on a single 35mm frame, producing funky diptych’s of magical moments separated by a black line.
#5: Manfrotto pistol grip tripod head – one handle that locks instantly once you let go, replaces the three manual hand controls on my existing head.
#6: A fabulously kitsch pink owl ornament with spooky button eyes!
#7: Last but not least, a pretty pink vintage frock.
